Retired\u00a0soccer<\/a> player Lamisha Musonda<\/a> revealed that he has just \u201ca few days left\u201d to live due to a serious illness.\n<\/p>\n The former athlete, 33, opened up in a series of Instagram<\/a> posts this week about his health struggles that have left him \u201cfighting to stay alive.\u201d\n<\/p>\n “Life has so many ups and downs and no one really knows the pain you\u2019re dealing with,” he began one post, alongside photos from his career as a professional athlete. “This has been a tough and grueling couple of years for me. And it is with sadness that I must inform you that I\u2019ve been struggling trying to get my health back to normal hence why I\u2019ve been unable to come on social media.”\n<\/p>\n The soccer star has not shared the illness he has been diagnosed with.\n<\/p>\n “I had to come to grips that my health is in a critical condition and I am now just fighting to stay alive. I would greatly appreciate your help and prayers in this period,” he shared. “My family and I are fighting and I won\u2019t quit until it is time for my last breath.”\n<\/p>\n Lamisha Musonda in 2014.<\/p>\n \u00a0KRISTOF VAN ACCOM\/AFP via Getty<\/p>\n Reflecting on his photos \u2014 which include shots from his time playing for Chelsea, signing a contract with his family surrounding him and practicing with his teammates \u2014 Musonda wrote that he has “been blessed with a beautiful early stage of my life” and has “so much more to give.”\n<\/p>\n “But so many wonderful people I wish I had the chance to thank, face to face. It pains me that I might not have the chance to do so,” he added. “I love you all \ud83d\ude2a.”\n<\/p>\n In another post<\/a>, he wrote, “As I realize I only have a few days left, I also realize I had a lot of people by my side and I\u2019ll always cherish the memories. Life is hard but the view is great \u2764\ufe0f\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffe.”\n<\/p>\n
