Biffy Clyro<\/a>\u00a0have kicked off their huge \u2018Futique\u2019 UK and Ireland tour in Belfast \u2013 check out footage and setlist info below.<\/p>\n

On Friday night (January 9), the band played\u00a0at\u00a0the SSE Arena in\u00a0the first of a run of nine shows<\/a>\u00a0in support\u00a0of their 10th\u00a0album \u2018Futique<\/a>\u2019, which was released in September.<\/p>\n

Soft Play<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0The Armed<\/a>\u00a0are supporting them on the trek, but\u00a0bassist James Johnston is sitting the tour out to focus on his mental health<\/a>,\u00a0which he said last month had \u201cled to addiction issues\u201d that he had \u201ckept concealed for a long time\u201d and had started to cause \u201csignificant problems for myself and everyone around me\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0Naomi Macleod of\u00a0Bitch Falcon<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Empire State Bastard<\/a>\u00a0is sitting in for Johnston for the shows.<\/p>\n

Seven tracks from \u2018Futique\u2019 made their way onto the setlist, among classics including \u2018Mountains\u2019, \u2018Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies\u2019 and \u2018Many Of Horror\u2019, while the stage setup itself reflected the new record\u2019s angular artwork.<\/p>\n

It is the start of a big year of live performances for the Scottish band, as they prepare to play\u00a0the biggest gig of their lives in front of 40,000 fans at London\u2019s Finsbury Park<\/a>\u00a0in July, where they will be joined by\u00a0Nothing But Thieves<\/a>,\u00a0Don Broco<\/a>,\u00a0Marmozets<\/a>\u00a0and more.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0NME\u00a0about that show<\/a>,\u00a0frontman\u00a0Simon Neil said:\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ve put together a fucking unbelievable bill. We\u2019re lucky that a lot of people wanted to play, but we wanted to lean into British rock bands and be proud of where we come from. Nothing But Thieves,\u00a0 Marmozets, Don Broco, it\u2019s dynamite.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes we put a bill together and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0pointed. \u2018I want people to learn about this band!\u2019 Magic will happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

They have a handful of festival slots planned for the summer too, including a slot alongside Florence + The Machine<\/a>,\u00a0Lewis Capaldi<\/a>,\u00a0SOMBR<\/a>, and\u00a0Twenty One Pilots<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Sziget 2026<\/a>, and a headline stop at Noches del\u00a0Bot\u00e1nico\u00a0in Madrid.<\/p>\n

NME\u00a0awarded \u2018Futique\u2019 four stars<\/a>, writing: \u201cBiffy Clyro have delivered one of their most personal and definitive records to date. There\u2019s a vulnerability met with a forward motion; a feeling of three friends shining light through the cracks to find a renewed sense of purpose. You can holler \u201c\u2018Mon the Biff!\u201d for a while longer, it seems. A little love and a lot of noise goes a long way.\u201d<\/p>\n
