The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> have made big moves already this offseason in free agency, and they might have more to come.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, they made a little move, but it’s an exciting one in its own way.<\/p>\n

According to MLB insider Mike Rodriguez, the Blue Jays have signed Eloy Jimenez to a minor league contract. It comes with an invite to big league spring training.<\/p>\n

Jimenez is still just 29 years old.<\/p>\n

He was a top prospect for the Chicago White Sox<\/a>, and as a rookie in 2019, he slugged 31 home runs in just 122 games.<\/p>\n

He hit 14 homers in the COVID-shortened 2020 season, then 10 in just 55 games in an injury-plagued 2021.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Jimenez played 84 games, hit 16 homers and batted .295.<\/p>\n

The next season, it was 120 games with 18 homers and a .272 average.<\/p>\n

He started his fall off in 2024. In 98 games, he hit just six homers and batted .238.<\/p>\n

Jimenez didn’t play in the majors at all in 2025.<\/p>\n

He’s not a sure thing, but he’s not that far removed from being a prodigious power bat.<\/p>\n

It’s a low-risk signing for the Blue Jays, one that actually has upside. Not a bad move on a Sunday night for Toronto.<\/p>\n
