{"id":404580,"date":"2026-01-12T12:32:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T12:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/404580\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T12:32:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T12:32:14","slug":"i-hope-to-get-back-to-my-best-dylan-van-baarle-to-target-tour-of-flanders-and-paris-roubaix-in-debut-season-with-classics-focused-soudal-quickstep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/404580\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;I hope to get back to my best&#8217; \u2013 Dylan van Baarle to target Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix in debut season with Classics-focused Soudal-QuickStep"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"1a1b37f6-9d42-479f-8cd6-d48570f28456\">New signing <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/dylan-van-baarle\/\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/dylan-van-baarle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dylan van Baarle<\/a> will be targeting the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/tour-of-flanders\/\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/tour-of-flanders\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tour of Flanders<\/a> and Paris-Roubaix in his first season with <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/road\/teams\/uci-worldtour\/2026\/soudal-quickstep\/\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/road\/teams\/uci-worldtour\/2026\/soudal-quickstep\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Soudal-QuickStep<\/a>, as the team look to refocus on the Classics after the departure of Remco Evenepoel.<\/p>\n<p>Van Baarle, who won <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/paris-roubaix\/\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/paris-roubaix\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paris-Roubaix<\/a> in 2022, signed for QuickStep from <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/road\/teams\/uci-worldtour\/2026\/visma-lease-a-bike\/\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/road\/teams\/uci-worldtour\/2026\/visma-lease-a-bike\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Visma-Lease a Bike<\/a> this winter, with the team recruiting proven Classics riders in an attempt to hit the ground running again in the races that used to be their bread and butter.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"1a1b37f6-9d42-479f-8cd6-d48570f28456-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Despite being new to the team, 33-year-old Van Baarle isn&#8217;t wasting any time in setting out big goals and taking on a solid leadership role, placing his focus on two of the Monuments.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&#8220;Flanders and Roubaix will be my main goals, and I hope to get back to my best level for these two Monuments,&#8221; he confirmed in an interview released by his team on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I love them, they hold a special place in my heart and I would love to be in the mix for a good result or contribute to the team\u2019s success.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Van Baarle and fellow Monument winner <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/jasper-stuyven\/\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/jasper-stuyven\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jasper Stuyven<\/a> were two of the team&#8217;s major signings for 2026, and they join riders like Tim Merlier, Yves Lampaert and Paul Magnier in the strengthened Classics core. However, Van Baarle \u2013 who has been part of two <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/tour-de-france\/\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/tour-de-france\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tour de France<\/a>-winning teams with Jonas Vingegaard \u2013 will also take on a role in stage races.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&#8220;I look forward also to being there for the squad whenever they need me in the stage races, because we have many riders that can shine in this type of races, regardless of the terrain. It was nice to get to know everyone, from the staff to the riders. It\u2019s a great group of riders and this gave me a good feeling. I can\u2019t wait for my first race, Algarve, because it makes me excited to finally start in these colours,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019m also looking forward to the Opening Weekend, which will be special in a Belgian team.
