A handful of teams reportedly have emerged as serious suitors for star free agent Kyle Tucker. <\/p>\n
Per MLB Network Radio’s Jim Duquette<\/a>, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets have all met with Tucker, either in person or via Zoom. <\/p>\n Last week, Jon Heyman<\/a> of the New York Post reported that the Mets are “very much”\u00a0in the mix for Tucker, noting that the Blue Jays and Dodgers are “stiff” competition. <\/p>\n “The Mets appear to be taking a very serious look at the No. 1 free agent on the market, Kyle Tucker,” Heyman said. “Next question: what are the chances to actually sign Tucker? Well, there are only a number of teams that can afford such a player, the Mets being one of them, so I’m not gonna say their chances are nil.”<\/p>\n As for the defending champs’ chances of landing Tucker, one AL executive relayed to MLB.com’s\u00a0Mark Feinsand<\/a> that a short-term deal might land him in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n “I can’t see the Dodgers signing him to a long-term deal, but if he is open to something shorter, that’s the kind of deal [president of baseball operations] Andrew [Friedman] loves,” the exec said. “It feels like they’re just waiting out the market, because as good as Tucker is, it’s not like they need him.”<\/p>\n Tucker is one of, if not the most, coveted free agents on the market.
