Juan Pablo Montoya<\/a> has revealed that he was sent to see an ‘energy healer’ by Helmut Marko.\u201cThe only person who ever sent me to get checked out because he said there was something wrong with me was Helmut Marko\u201d- Juan Pablo Montoya<\/p>\n

Speaking on the MontoyAS podcast, the former Williams driver revealed that he had met the same fate as the Mexican: \u201cThe only person who ever sent me to get checked out because he said there was something wrong with me was Helmut Marko.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was when it was his own team, but he didn\u2019t send me to a psychologist \u2014 he sent me to an \u2018energy healer\u2019, because he said my speed and my stupidity couldn\u2019t possibly coexist.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, I remember it well, and I remember exactly how much it cost. At the time I was living in an apartment provided by his team, and they were funding my season, so when he said \u2018jump\u2019, you jumped.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went once \u2014 maybe twice \u2014 and nothing came of it. They had all these little things, including a wand with a gold tip that she used to \u2018read energies\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked whether he had to pay as much as Perez, Montoya added: \u201cNo \u2014 but for the money I had back then, it felt like it. It was like charging Checo \u00a3600,000 instead of \u00a36,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spent around $100 at the time, and I had no money at all. I couldn\u2019t even afford a car \u2014 I was getting around by bus, and sometimes I didn\u2019t even take the bus; I used rollerblades to save money. I travelled to races with the team, and now imagine spending $100 \u2014 basically a month\u2019s groceries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perez discloses huge psychologist bill picked up by Helmut Marko<\/p>\n

Appearing on the Cracks Podcast, Perez opened up about a specific moment early in his Red Bull stint, revealing that after a run of underwhelming results in the opening races, he was advised, just like Montoya, to see a psychologist \u2014 with Helmut Marko ultimately covering the cost of the session.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs soon as I arrived at Red Bull, in the first few races when the results weren\u2019t coming, they told me: \u2018What you need is a psychologist. You have to see a psychologist.\u2019 I was completely open to it, so I agreed.\u201d<\/p>\n
