{"id":405009,"date":"2026-01-12T17:32:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T17:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/405009\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T17:32:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T17:32:10","slug":"terence-crawford-reveals-reason-behind-retirement-it-wasnt-because-of-that","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/405009\/","title":{"rendered":"Terence Crawford Reveals Reason Behind Retirement: &#8220;It Wasn&#8217;t Because Of That&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/terence-crawford\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Terence \u2018Bud\u2019 Crawford<\/a> has revealed exactly why he decided to announce his retirement from boxing.<\/p>\n<p>The former pound-for-pound great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/news\/crawford-shock-decision-on-boxing-future\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">revealed back in December that he would be calling time on his glittering professional career<\/a> having won world titles in five weight divisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Bud\u2019 Crawford\u2019s 42nd and final ring appearance came on September 13 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/boxing\/articles\/c62nz9w1kl0o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">when he defeated Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez to capture the undisputed super-middleweight championship<\/a> at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>Crawford became the first male fighter of the \u2018four belt era\u2019 to win an undisputed world championship in three separate weight classes, having already accomplished this feat at super-lightweight and welterweight respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst it had been speculated that \u2018Bud\u2019 would be making a return to action in 2026, the 38-year-old from Nebraska opted to walk away from the sport with his unbeaten record, physical health and finances intact.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on an Adin Ross livestream recently, Crawford revealed that he decided to retire from the sport because he has \u2018nothing left to prove\u2019 \u2013 shutting down the question of whether it was to do with his recent drama or being stripped of the WBC belt for \u2018not paying his fees.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo [it wasn\u2019t to do with the WBC belt.] Not at all. That\u2019d be stupid of me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m 38, 38 is old in boxing. I\u2019ve been boxing since I was 7. I have nothing else to prove, I have nothing else to accomplish. You know, it\u2019s like, what more can I do? They not gonna give me the credit anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following his retirement, Crawford became one of the few great champions in boxing history to retire from the sport without suffering a single defeat, joining the likes of Joe Calzaghe, Rocky Marciano and Floyd Mayweather Jr.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Terence \u2018Bud\u2019 Crawford has revealed exactly why he decided to announce his retirement from boxing.
