Since its March 2025 release, the streaming hit has been sweeping awards shows, picking up trophies at the Emmys<\/a>, Critics Choice<\/a> and most recently, the 2026 Golden Globes<\/a>.<\/p>\n The four-part limited series starring Stephen Graham<\/a>, Owen Cooper<\/a> and Erin Doherty<\/a> told a self-contained story, but after Adolescence’s success, there has been talk of the drama returning for another season \u2014 something Graham hinted at backstage at the Golden Globes.<\/p>\n Adolescence was Netflix’s most-viewed series for the first half of 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>. It later scored 13 Emmy nominations, eventually winning eight, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n So, as more details are revealed, here’s what we know so far about Adolescence season 2.<\/p>\n Will there be a season 2 of Adolescence? Netflix<\/p>\n Owen Cooper as Jamie Miller in ‘Adolescence.’<\/p>\n Adolescence season 2 has not been officially confirmed, but it is seemingly in the works.<\/p>\n After winning the Golden Globe for Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology of TV Movie at the 2026 Golden Globes, co-creator and star Graham was asked about returning to the world of Adolescence.<\/p>\n In response, he teased that a second season was happening, mentioning Adolescence writer and co-creator Jack Thorne.<\/p>\n “I cannot answer that question because it\u2019s somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack\u2019s mind, and we\u2019ll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned,” he said, per Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n The outlet previously reported in April 2025 that production company Plan B Entertainment was considering a follow-up installment of Adolescence.<\/p>\n Plan B co-president Dede Gardner\u00a0told Deadline<\/a> that their goal for season 2 was to \u201cwiden the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive.”<\/p>\n Who will be in the Adolescence season 2 cast? Cooper made Golden Globes history when he won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television, becoming the youngest winner in the category at age 16.<\/p>\n Graham and Doherty also walked away winners at the 2026 Golden Globes. They took home the trophies for Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television, respectively.<\/p>\n What will Adolescence season 2 be about? Courtesy of Netflix<\/p>\n Stephen Graham as Eddie Miller and Christine Tremarco as Manda Miller in ‘Adolescence.’<\/p>\n It is currently unclear what the plot of Adolescence season 2 will be about, but according to writer Thorne, it will most likely not be about Cooper’s character, Jamie.<\/p>\n \u201cOur aim was to try and tell Jamie\u2019s story as fully as we possibly could,” Thorne said during a March 2025 appearance on ITV\u2019s\u00a0This Morning<\/a>, per The Independent<\/a>. “I think Jamie’s story is finished.”<\/p>\n “I don\u2019t think there\u2019s anywhere more we can take Jamie, so I don\u2019t think there is a series two,” he continued. “We\u2019d love to explore the one shot format in another way. We\u2019d love to tell other stories with it, but I don\u2019t think a series two of\u00a0Adolescence\u00a0is quite right for us.”<\/p>\n When is Adolescence season 2 coming out? In March 2025, when talking to Variety<\/a> about a season 2, he said, “There\u2019s the possibility of developing another story.\u201d<\/p>\n Hannah Walters, Graham’s wife, producing partner and Adolescence costar, ruled out the idea of an Adolescence prequel, telling the outlet, “That\u2019s certainly not going to happen.”<\/p>\n “But there\u2019s so much mileage in the one-shot [format of season 1] and so much mileage in investing into human nature again and looking at something else.
