Alex Bregman is making himself at home in Chicago.<\/p>\n
A day after agreeing to a five-year, $175 million contract with the <\/a>Chicago Cubs<\/a>, the 31-year-old made his first appearance in the Windy City.<\/p>\n The newly signed third baseman was in attendance as the Chicago Blackhawks faced the Edmonton Oilers at the United Center, and got a warm welcome as he was shown on the Jumbotron.<\/p>\n Dressed in a Blackhawks jersey, he appeared in good spirits despite the city\u2019s NHL counterpart dropping the game 4-1.<\/p>\n Bregman, who turns 32 in March, played his first nine seasons with the Houston Astros, winning World Series titles in 2017 and 2022, before he signed a $120 million, three-year contract with the Boston Red Sox last February.<\/p>\n As he turns the page to a new chapter in his career, Bregman will enter a lineup in need of some fresh energy and some post-season experience, something he can provide.<\/p>\n If Monday night was any indication, Bregman is already embracing sports in his new hometown, and life in Chicago appears to be off to a smooth start.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Alex Bregman is making himself at home in Chicago.
