Stephen Graham<\/a> has updated fans on the possibility of a second season<\/a> of his hit Netflix <\/a>miniseries Adolescence<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Sunday night, fresh from collecting the Golden Globe<\/a> for his performance as father Eddie Miller in Adolescence, Stephen was asked about the chance of the show returning for a second series.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI cannot answer that question because it\u2019s somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and [screenwriter[ Jack [Thorne]\u2019s mind, and we\u2019ll pull it out in three or four years,\u201d he told reporters in the awards show\u2019s press room<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cSo stay tuned.\u201d<\/p>\n The British actor\u2019s win was one of four Golden Globes victories for Adolescence<\/a>, with Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty both picking up acting titles and the show itself being named Best Limited Series, Anthology Series Or TV Movie.<\/p>\n Although Netflix originally billed Adolescence as a miniseries \u2013 intended to consist of four self-contained episodes \u2013 Stephen and Jack have hinted that the show could turn into an anthology series in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n Stephen previously told Tudum<\/a> that if the show were to return for a second season, he doesn\u2019t expect to see Jamie or the Miller family back.<\/p>\n \u201cWe knew that we wanted to end it in [Jamie\u2019s] room. We wanted the journey to finish where it began,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Although the story of Eddie Miller, a father who is blindsided when his 13-year-old son commits a terrible crime, might be over, the series could follow another family in the aftermath of a shocking incident.<\/p>\n \u201cIf we were to go again, would I like it to go again? With a different story completely? Yes,\u201d Stephen told Variety <\/a>last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n Jack also previously made it clear<\/a> that any new episodes would not continue the story of Jamie and the Miller family, saying: \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s anywhere more we can take Jamie. So, I don\u2019t think there is a series two.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019d love to explore the one-shot format in another way \u2013 we\u2019d love to tell other stories with it, but I don\u2019t think a series two of Adolescence is quite right for us.\u201d<\/p>\n Given the conversations the show has started<\/a>, there is potential for the writers to explore how similar themes might affect different families.<\/p>\n In April last year, the co-presidents of the Plan B production company, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, told Deadline <\/a>that they were talking to the show\u2019s director, Philip Barantini, about the \u201cnext iteration\u201d of the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n Gardner also said they are thinking about how they can \u201cwiden the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive,\u201d but stayed tight-lipped on exactly on what this would look like.<\/p>\n
