With free agency a month away in the Canadian Football League, the Saskatchewan Roughriders made a couple of moves to solidify their\u00a0defence\u00a0on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The green and white inked extensions with middle linebacker Jameer Thurman and cornerback Tevaughn Campbell.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Thurman was already under contract with Saskatchewan through the 2026 and will now remain with the green and white through the 2027\u00a0season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Last year, the Chicago IL product earned his first All-CFL\u00a0honour, sixth in the league in defensive tackles (86), tied for eighth in total defensive plays (100), and registered three interceptions, three sacks, three pass knockdowns, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.\u00a0<\/p>\n
2026 will mark Thurman\u2019s third season in Saskatchewan. He signed with the Roughriders after the 2023 season after\u00a0spending a season in Hamilton. Prior to joining the Tiger-Cats, the middle linebacker spent four years with Calgary.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Campbell also earned ALL-CFL\u00a0honours\u00a0in 2025 despite only\u00a0playing\u00a013 games during the regular season. The former U of Regina Ram finished tied\u00a0in the league lead for interceptions (6).\u00a0<\/p>\n
He played a pivotal role in the 2025 Grey Cup Championship, with a forced fumble at the Roughriders goal line in the 4th\u00a0Quarter. Campbell also had three tackles and\u00a0an interception.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Mississauga native\u00a0joined the Roughriders in 2025 after spending the\u00a0previous\u00a0six seasons in the NFL.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
