Nikki Glaser<\/a>\u2019s second year hosting the Golden Globe Awards was a success across the board!\n<\/p>\n The comedian, 41, returned for the annual ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 11, where she kept with tradition, opening the show with a monologue poking fun at Hollywood stars and current events. Amid her playful jabs, Glaser took aim<\/a> at recent controversial editorial changes at CBS News<\/a> \u2014 which is run by the same network that was airing the Globes.\n<\/p>\n “And the award for most editing goes to CBS News,” she declared, garnering significant laughter and applause from the audience. “Yes, CBS News, America’s newest place to see BS news. We needed another.”\n<\/p>\n The award show\u2019s producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss addressed the jokes during an interview with <\/a>Variety<\/a> the following day, revealing CBS executives were aware that it was part of Glaser\u2019s speech ahead of time.\n<\/p>\n Nikki Glaser hosts the 2026 Golden Globes.<\/p>\n Kevork Djansezian\/CBS via Getty<\/p>\n \u201cI think when you start off by doing a self-deprecating joke about your own plastic surgery, you set the tone of, \u2018I\u2019m not here to really harm people,\u2019 \u201d Kirshner noted. \u201cI was sitting next to the CBS executive during rehearsal. Glenn had heard that joke in clubs throughout the week, and we hadn\u2019t heard it all week until rehearsal day.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \u201cShe did it, I was sitting with the CBS exec, and I looked over at her, and she texted a few people, and said, \u2018Yeah, it\u2019s okay. It\u2019s fine,\u2019\u201d he continued.\n<\/p>\n Weiss then added, \u201cEverything in the monologue, why she nails this so well is, we\u2019re poking fun at everything in the industry, including ourselves. It\u2019s just been fun.\u201d<\/p>\n Glaser’s comment came amid ongoing changes at the network. On Jan. 7, Tony Dokoupil began hosting CBS Evening News<\/a>, making him the sixth anchor of the broadcast in the last decade. A few weeks prior, in December 2025, the network abruptly pulled a planned 60 Minutes segment<\/a> that focused on Venezuelan men who were deported by the Trump administration to a notorious El Salvador prison.\n<\/p>\n This also follows Skydance\u2019s $8 billion acquisition of Paramount, the network’s parent company. The merger also came after CBS News settled a lawsuit<\/a> with President Donald Trump<\/a> last summer.\n<\/p>\n When asked if Glaser would be welcomed back to host the 2027 Golden Globes, Weiss said, \u201cWe all have been focused on this year. No conversation about it. Joking that he was nominated for “one man bun after another” instead of his movie One Battle After Another, Glaser teased the actor, 51, for his age gap with his girlfriend, Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, 27.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019ve worked with every great director, you\u2019ve won three Golden Globes and an Oscar,\u201d Glaser began. \u201cThe most impressive thing is that you were able to accomplish that all before your girlfriend turned 30.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
