We\u00a0are\u00a0testing turbidity\u00a0(how clear the water is), residual chlorine (to ensure adequate disinfection)\u00a0and\u00a0harmful bacteria.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;text-align:left;\">Once testing confirms our water is safe to drink,\u00a0we will\u00a0slowly\u00a0open\u00a0valves to reconnect\u00a0the feeder main to the larger distribution network. Then we will\u00a0turn on\u00a0pumps at the\u00a0Bearspaw\u00a0Treatment Plant\u00a0to push water through the feeder main.\u00a0This\u00a0multi-phase process\u00a0carries\u00a0a higher\u00a0risk\u00a0as increased\u00a0water\u00a0flow can\u00a0stress pipes and connections.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;text-align:left;\">We are closely\u00a0monitoring\u00a0the system\u00a0throughout\u00a0and our focus\u00a0remains\u00a0on returning the pipe to service as quickly and safely as possible.\u00a0When the system is stable, we can lift water restrictions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;text-align:left;\">Calgarians will see an increased presence of City crews and emergency responders\u00a0in the area around the feeder main as we return to service.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;text-align:left;\">We expect to share more details on\u00a0timelines\u00a0tomorrow.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;text-align:left;\">ROADS AND MOBILITY \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Westbound traffic on 16 Avenue N.W.\u00a0currently\u00a0remains\u00a0closed between 49 Street and Sarcee Trail N.W.\u00a0Eastbound 16 Avenue is expected to fully reopen ahead of the Wednesday morning commute, while westbound lanes will reopen in phases, starting with the inside lane.
