\n\tAt the Golden Globes on Sunday, presenter Wanda Sykes offered a bit of advice to Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television nominee Bill Maher<\/a>: \u201cYou give us so much. But I would love a little less. Just try less.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMaher lost, but it doesn\u2019t sound like he\u2019ll be taking Sykes\u2019 advice any time soon.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn this week\u2019s addition of his Club Random podcast \u2014 which was taped before the show \u2014 fellow nominee Joel Edgerton asked the Real Time host about his vibe going into the event.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHow do you feel going in?\u201d Edgerton asked. \u201cTo me \u2014 and maybe it\u2019s because I\u2019ve always set my ceiling quite low in life \u2014 like, being nominated to me is a win.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMaher replied, \u201cSweetheart, I\u2019ve been nominated for 33 Emmys<\/a>, and they would never give it to me. That\u2019s not a gag number. That\u2019s a real number. It\u2019s crazy.<\/p>\n

\n\tActually, according to a search of the Television Academy\u2019s website, Maher has been nominated 58 times<\/a>. And he has won once: in 2014 for the series Vice, which was co-produced by his Bill Maher Productions. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe 33 nominations Maher is citing seem to be in line with the number for his Primetime shows going all the way back to Politically Incorrect in 1995. But in the Podcast conversation, Maher specifically lumped in his standup specials and his producing efforts, such as Vice, to make his case for being snubbed.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cObviously, it\u2019s something I said,\u201d he claimed, before expounding, \u201cWell, it\u2019s everything I said.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe later continued, \u201cBecause I speak freely. And this\u00a0woke\u00a0town f*cking hates that. And that\u2019s okay. I\u2019ve made my peace with that.\u201d<\/p>\n
