Former Ohio State Buckeyes<\/a> coach Urban Meyer says what is on his mind, whether he is right or wrong. This was no more evident than when Meyer recently discussed whether Oregon Ducks<\/a> quarterback Dante Moore should declare for the draft or return to Eugene.<\/a><\/p>\n

Moore was rather brief regarding what he wants to do next<\/a>.\u00a0Meyer recognizes that.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo many things can happen to you, man,\u201d Meyer said on “The Triple Option” podcast of Moore.<\/a>\u00a0I just hope if he goes somewhere, he can go sit and learn for a year. I hate that when they throw the rookie quarterback in there and you just wish you had some veteran ahead of him.\u00a0Jordan Love\u00a0learned from\u00a0Aaron Rodgers, and\u00a0Aaron Rodgers\u00a0learned from\u00a0Brett Favre. That was the perfect way for a quarterback to have success.\u201d<\/p>\n

Todd McShay feels similarly to Meyer that Moore isn’t fully there yet, which is okay.<\/p>\n

“And yeah, the running back on the RPO shouldn\u2019t have hit his elbow when he went to throw,” McShay said on “The McShay Show<\/a>” after the Ducks lost 56-22 to the Indiana Hoosiers<\/a> in the Peach Bowl.”But the strip-sack and several other plays, I\u2019m watching a quarterback \u2013 yes, your receivers are covered up, but we\u2019ve got speed up that clock, man.\u00a0I don\u2019t think\u00a0Dante Moore\u2019s ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

With another season, though, McShay says things may change, where his draft comparison is in the same discussion as some of the NFL’s best.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe can come back next year, play 12, 13, 15 more games, and now, he\u2019s in the range we\u2019re talking about with\u00a0[Matthew] Stafford,\u00a0Lamar [Jackson],\u00a0Dak [Prescott],\u00a0Caleb [Williams],\u00a0[Jordan] Love. I feel a lot more comfortable then,” McShay added. “But also, that\u2019s the last game he played with\u00a0Will Stein, who\u2019s going to be the\u00a0Kentucky\u00a0head coach. There\u2019s just a lot of factors here.\u201d<\/p>\n

We’ll see how much weight Moore decides to add to the decision from a mental perspective. Either way, should he return to school, he’ll have to deal with Nebraska Cornhuskers transfer quarterback Dylan Raiola.<\/a><\/p>\n
