The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> have reportedly submitted a long-term offer to free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker, according to Jesse Rogers of ESPN.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n Tucker, who\u2019s going to be 29 years old this coming Saturday, is considered the best free agent hitter available this offseason with several suitors, which reportedly also include the New York Mets<\/a> and Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>. The Houston Astros<\/a> traded Tucker to the Chicago Cubs<\/a> in December of 2024. The terms regarding the length and dollar figure offer from Toronto aren\u2019t known.<\/p>\n 2025 Was A Down Year For Tucker But He\u2019s Still Highly Valued<\/p>\n 2025 was a somewhat down year for Tucker, given his usual production every year, but the outfielder still posted a .266<\/a> batting average with 22 home runs and 73 RBI\u2019s along with an .841 OPS. Tucker dealt with a right-hand hairline fracture in June<\/a> and a left calf strain<\/a> in September that could have contributed to his dip in performance from his career expectations. Despite this, Tucker battled through, appearing in 136 games and posting a 4.6 WAR<\/a>, which was fifth best among MLB<\/a> right fielders in 2025.<\/p>\n Tucker is also not far removed from his 2023 campaign with Houston, in which he hit 29 home runs and drove in 112 RBIs with a .886 OPS.<\/a>\u00a0 Tucker also has age on his side, given the fact that he\u2019s under 30 years old, and he\u2019s a left-handed hitter who is among one of the best in Major League Baseball.<\/p>\n The Blue Jays have been linked to Kyle Tucker all offseason, dating back to Tucker\u2019s visit<\/a> to the Blue Jays\u2019 Spring Training facility in Dunedin, Florida, in early December. Tucker is from the area, having grown up nearby in Tampa, Florida. A Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> team that signed Dylan Cease, Kazuma Okamoto, Cody Ponce, and Tyler Rogers is showing no signs of letting up yet this offseason, in which if they added Tucker, would only make them stronger favorites not just to repeat as winners of the AL East Division, but as American League Champions in their quest to get back to the World Series after a heartbreaking defeat in Game 7 of the 2025 Fall Classic.<\/p>\n Tucker would slot nicely into a Blue Jays lineup alongside Vladimir Guerrero Jr, George Springer, and Kazuma Okamoto. He\u2019d also be a good addition in case star Blue Jays infielder Bo Bichette walks in free agency, in which he has his own list of suitors, which includes the Phillies<\/a>, who he met with on Monday, and the Boston Red Sox<\/a>, who are trying to pivot after third baseman Alex Bregman signed with the Chicago Cubs.<\/a><\/p>\n Where Tucker Lands Is Still Unknown<\/p>\n It\u2019s a mystery where Tucker ultimately lands, but Jon Heyman of the New York Post<\/a> reports that the Mets, Dodgers<\/a>, and Blue Jays are all involved in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes. There\u2019s also always the possibility of a mystery team being involved, which has happened before with prized free agents.
