Dumped and fired in the same week, he&#8217;s stuck in a dead-end job shredding data. To make things worse, his intimidating, shapeshifting boss insists on weekend work for a mysterious &#8220;special project.&#8221; But as Matias gets to know his boss better, he starts to see an unexpected and intriguing side to him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.7477134\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zeroed Out<\/a>\u00a0is for adults.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jim Munroe is a Toronto-based\u00a0graphic\u00a0artist. (At Bay Press)<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0the follow up to\u00a0Curb Angels Vol. 1,\u00a0the all female vigilante group continues their mission to free human trafficking victims and bring the people responsible to justice.<\/p>\n<p>Nyala Ali is a Winnipeg writer, editor, and comics journalist. Her\u00a0work has been published in the Winnipeg Free Press, Herizons Magazine and in the Eisner-winning online magazine Women Write About Comics.<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Mendis\u00a0is a Winnipeg illustrator, print maker and graphic designer. (Selbymay, Drawn &amp; Quarterly)<\/p>\n<p>This illustrated biography is based on the real life story of innovative photographer Eadweard Muybridge.\u00a0In 1870s Sacramento, Muybridge took on a challenge from railroad tycoon Leland Stanford \u2014 to prove whether a horse&#8217;s hooves ever leave the ground while galloping. In the process, Muybridge unknowingly pioneered\u00a0time-lapse photography, laying the foundation for motion pictures as we know them.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his groundbreaking discoveries, his life was\u00a0marked by betrayal, intrigue\u00a0and tragedy. Acclaimed cartoonist Guy Delisle captures the highs and lows of Muybridge&#8217;s career, bringing his story to life with sharp detail and emotional depth.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/books\/guy-delisle-1.4723057\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Guy Delisle<\/a>\u00a0is an critically-acclaimed cartoonist originally from\u00a0Qu\u00e9bec City. (Sara Farid, \u00c9ric Bataillon)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.7423969\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Dissident Club<\/a>\u00a0is a graphic memoir by Pakistani journalist Taha Siddiqui, who narrowly escaped\u00a0a violent kidnapping in Islamabad in 2018 and flees to France. Co-written\u00a0with illustrator Hubert Maury, the book explores Islamic politics, family tensions\u00a0and Siddiqui&#8217;s fight for truth. It follows\u00a0his journey from a strict religious upbringing in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to his rebellion against fundamentalism, his career exposing military corruption\u00a0and the dangers journalists face. When he eventually gets to\u00a0Paris, he establishes the Dissident Club, a refuge for political exiles.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Siddiqui, an award-winning Pakistani journalist living in exile in Paris, has worked for many international and local media outlets that include the New York Times, The Guardian, France 24, Arte, the Christian Science Monitor and Al Jazeera.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hubert Maury is a graphic novel writer and artist, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.7423969\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Dissident Club<\/a>\u00a0is his first graphic work published in English.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">David Homel is a Montreal-based writer, journalist, filmmaker, translator and the author of nine novels. Combining essays, artwork from each book and personal stories,\u00a0Lemire\u00a0shares never-before-seen insights into his creative process.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lemire\u00a0is a New York Times Bestselling graphic novelist whose work includes\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.3979923\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roughneck<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.3986163\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Essex County<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.4725044\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Underwater Welder<\/a>\u00a0and Gord Downie&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.4003370\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Secret Path<\/a>. When a terrible storm forces the trio off the road, they take shelter at the Black Rock Inn,\u00a0only to find themselves in the crosshairs of their pursuer, Captain Drake. The thieves must stay one step ahead as they try to make it through a night of narrow escapes and uncover clues that might help Dessa find her long-lost twin brother.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Chantler is the\u00a0Stratford, Ont.-based creator behind Eisner-nominated works like\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.3995955\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Two Generals<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Northwest Passage. He is the creator of a 10-page comic with the University of Windsor about the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.5119705\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chatham Coloured All-Stars baseball team&#8217;s historic 1934 run<\/a>\u00a0to the provincial baseball association title, as well as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cbc.ca\/1.5450376\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bix<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prairie Gods by Shane Connery Volk<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"A composite image of a man with dark hair looking into the camera beside an illustrated comic book cover.\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/prairie-gods-by-shane-connery-volk.png\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.7771084337349397\" data-cy=\"image-img\"\/>Prairie Gods is a graphic novel by Shane Connery Volk. Each issue is centred on the supernatural occurrences and characters in and around the fictional prairie town of Broadacres.<\/p>\n<p>Shane Connery Volk\u00a0is a comic book creator, actor and the lead singer and songwriter for the rock band One Bad Son.
