Annet Martens says an <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/amazon-delivery\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon delivery<\/a> truck damaged her property, leaving her with a big repair bill. \u201cI went straight outside, but by that time the driver was gone,\u201d said Martens.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Chilliwack, B.C. resident says in May 2025, an Amazon delivery truck backed onto her front lawn and uprooted her fence posts, causing a section of the structure to collapse.<\/p>\n<p>Surveillance footage captured the incident. Even more alarming, she says, the driver never notified her of the damage. \u201cHe just got out of the van, delivered my parcel to the front door, and went back to his van and drove away,\u201d Martens told <a href=\"http:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/consumer-matters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Consumer Matters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Martens says she filed a police report and contacted Amazon immediately via email several times, but says she didn\u2019t get much of a response. \u201cThe reply basically just said they were sorry for what happened,\u201d said Martens.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-video__image\" alt=\"Click to play video: 'Consumer Matters: Beware of Amazon Prime Day scams'\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WEB_NH_DREWA_CM_AMAZON_SCAMS-WEB.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"   data-\/><\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2:19<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tConsumer Matters: Beware of Amazon Prime Day scams\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Between May and the end of November 2025, Martens says she was bounced around by Amazon with no resolution in sight.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1767930311_275_national.jpg\" alt=\"For news impacting Canada and around the world, sign up for breaking news alerts delivered directly to you when they happen.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tGet breaking National news<\/p>\n<p>For news impacting Canada and around the world, sign up for breaking news alerts delivered directly to you when they happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst to three different locations within Amazon, and then they directed them to an insurance company in the States, who directed me to another insurance company and then to a third and then they directed me to ICBC, who then told me to then contact my house insurance,\u201d said Martens.<\/p>\n<p>Martens says that wasn\u2019t an option since her home insurance required a $1,000 deductible, which she says was more than the cost to repair the fence. Martens says the cost was approximately $600. When it doesn\u2019t go well, then they should not expect there to be an easy path to a resolution, if any path to a resolution,\u201d said Gray.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Consumer Matters reached out to Amazon about Marten\u2019s case and within days, she received notice of a full reimbursement for her damaged fence.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon stated in part:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDelivery drivers are employed by Delivery Service Partners, which are independent businesses that contract with Amazon to deliver packages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmazon works directly with our Delivery Service Partners to investigate any claims involving our customers and support their resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martens says she\u2019s happy, but it shouldn\u2019t have taken this long or so much effort. \u201cI was jumping through hoops for nine months and then the news calls and now we\u2019ve got a resolution, but I am thankful that we have it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tMore on Lifestyle<br \/>\n\t\t\tMore videos\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t&amp;copy 2026 Global News, a division of Corus Entertainment Inc.\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A B.C. woman who shops with Amazon had a home delivery she won\u2019t soon forget.
