Boyd<\/p>\n<p>Alongside its established alloy rim facility, Boyd is introducing carbon fibre production, where its carbon fibre rims will be made.<\/p>\n<p>The Podium 36mm Carbon Disc SL features a carbon fibre rim construction with a 36mm rim depth and a 24mm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/rim-width-explained-for-road-bikes-mountain-bikes-and-gravel-bikes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">internal width<\/a>, optimised for 28-38mm tyres.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Boyd-Podium-36mm-Carbon-Disc-SL-rim-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Boyd Podium 36mm Carbon Disc SL rim\" class=\"wp-image-955779\"\/>The rims are hooked carbon tubeless. Boyd<\/p>\n<p>Boyd says the rim uses aerospace-grade T1000 carbon fibre in high-stress zones, with high-modulus carbon fibres placed at strategic cross angles in the layup.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Boyd-Podium-36mm-Carbon-Disc-SL-on-white-background.jpg\" alt=\"Boyd Podium 36mm Carbon Disc SL on white background\" class=\"wp-image-955781\"\/>Boyd says the wheels are hand-built for long-term durability. Boyd<\/p>\n<p>This is said to result in an impact resistance exceeding 110 joules, more than 2.5 times the UCI\u2019s requirement of 40 joules.<\/p>\n<p>Multi-angle spoke hole reinforcement is used to distribute spoke tension forces across multiple directions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is said to enable higher, more stable spoke tension without adding unnecessary mass.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1667\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Boyd-Podium-36mm-Carbon-Disc-SL-with-Grade-54-hub.jpg\" alt=\"Boyd Podium 36mm Carbon Disc SL with Grade 54 hub\" class=\"wp-image-955778\"\/>24 Pillar Wing 20 spokes pull the wheels together.
