Acura is ending production of the RDX this year with no model planned for 2027.

Say your goodbyes: Acura is ending production of the RDX after a 19-year run in the US\u2014at least, for a little bit. The company announced today that the compact luxury SUV will be discontinued later this year, with no model planned for 2027. That said, the RDX won’t be gone for long.<\/p>\n

Acura confirmed that a hybrid RDX<\/a> successor will arrive within “a couple of years.” This new model will mark the fourth generation of the RDX, and it’s expected to use a two-motor hybrid system similar to the MDX. The company also provided a brief teaser of what the new model could look like.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Beyond that, details are still scarce. In the meantime, Acura buyers can choose from the subcompact ADX<\/a>, the three-row MDX, and the upcoming RSX EV<\/a>. The company says the RSX, arriving this year, will “give buyers another option” in place of the RDX.<\/p>\n

For many fans, seeing the RDX go will be bittersweet. The SUV received a refresh in 2024 with a sharper design and improved infotainment, but sales fell sharply last year as more buyers opted for the larger MDX and the smaller ADX\u2014both of which outsold the RDX in 2025.<\/p>\n

Motor1’s Take: The RDX was showing its age, so its departure isn\u2019t surprising. With the ADX and upcoming RSX filling the gap, Acura should maintain its sales in 2026. We\u2019re eager to see what the RDX\u2019s hybrid replacement will look like.<\/p>\n
