Young Creston golf caddy one of two to receive $125,000 scholarships<\/p>\n

Two young Victoria Golf Club caddies have been awarded with a four-year housing and tuition scholarship, valued at around $125,000, for their \u201cstrong caddie record, excellent academics, demonstrated financial need, and outstanding character.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sean Enwright of Victoria and Elizabeth Zielinski of Creston will begin university this fall with support from the Western Golf Association\u2019s (WGA) Chick Evans Scholarship, Canada\u2019s largest privately funded scholarship.<\/p>\n
\u201cSean and Elizabeth have exemplified the qualities of hard work, integrity, and character that define an Evans Scholar,\u201d said Jenny Dobell, a WGA Director and member of the Victoria Golf Club, in a news release. \u201cTheir achievements at our club and in their communities are remarkable, and we are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Enwright, who is interested in studying business and economics, balanced school, sports, and family responsibilities while caddying.<\/p>\n
\u201cCaddying has taught me the value of hard work, responsibility and confidence. The Evans Scholarship gives me the opportunity to continue my education and pursue my goals,\u201d he noted in the release.<\/p>\n
Zielinski, meanwhile, plans to study graphic design and says caddying has strengthened her work ethic and professionalism.<\/p>\n
\u201cCaddying has taught me confidence, perseverance and how to connect with people. The Evans Scholarship allows me to pursue my dreams while carrying forward the lessons I learned at the club,\u201d she said in the release. <\/p>\n
Scholarship winners have a cumulative GPA of 3.3, and a 98 percent graduation rate.
