{"id":414744,"date":"2026-01-17T06:22:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T06:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/414744\/"},"modified":"2026-01-17T06:22:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T06:22:07","slug":"wwe-had-interest-in-recent-aew-signing-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/414744\/","title":{"rendered":"WWE Had Interest In Recent AEW Signing \u2014Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A recently announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrestlezone.com\/tag\/aew\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AEW<\/a> signing also reportedly had interest from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrestlezone.com\/tag\/wwe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WWE<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan took to social media to announce that CMLL\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrestlezone.com\/tag\/persephone\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Persephone<\/a> and Mascara Dorada have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrestlezone.com\/news\/1604757-aew-signs-two-more-cmll-talents-to-dual-contracts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">signed dual contracts with the company<\/a>. And now we\u2019re learning that WWE had an interest in one of these talents. <\/p>\n<p>According to Dave Meltzer in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f4wonline.com\/newsletters\/wrestling-observer-newsletter\/january-19-2026-observer-newsletter-wrestlemania-42-card-changes-wwe-aew-rosters-cmll-vs-aaa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Wrestling Observer Newsletter<\/a>, WWE had been very interested in Persephone since seeing her match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in London. Persephone lost a four-way match for the TBS Championship to Mercedes Mon\u00e9.  <\/p>\n<p>This sounds incredibly similar to how the company landed Stephanie Vaquer after seeing her compete against Mon\u00e9 at Forbidden Door 2024.
