{"id":414963,"date":"2026-01-17T08:52:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T08:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/414963\/"},"modified":"2026-01-17T08:52:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T08:52:08","slug":"phoebe-dynevor-shark-movie-set-for-netflix-after-losing-sony-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/414963\/","title":{"rendered":"Phoebe Dynevor Shark Movie Set for Netflix After Losing Sony Release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFilmmaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/tommy-wirkola\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tommy-wirkola_1\" data-tag=\"tommy-wirkola\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tommy Wirkola<\/a>\u2018s untitled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/beneath-the-storm-phoebe-dynevor-tommy-wirkola-release-1235975053\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">forthcoming feature<\/a> is hoping to make a splash on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/netflix\/\" id=\"auto-tag_netflix_1\" data-tag=\"netflix\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix<\/a> after losing its theatrical release from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sony-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sony-pictures_1\" data-tag=\"sony-pictures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sony Pictures<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe project stars <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/phoebe-dynevor\/\" id=\"auto-tag_phoebe-dynevor_1\" data-tag=\"phoebe-dynevor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Phoebe Dynevor<\/a>, Whitney Peak and Djimon Hounsou, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/adam-mckay\/\" id=\"auto-tag_adam-mckay_1\" data-tag=\"adam-mckay\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adam McKay<\/a> and Kevin Messick serving as producers. Netflix is planning a launch for later this year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSony had initially slated the thriller, which was <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/street-fighter-movie-release-phoebe-dynevor-shark-1236171844\/\">formerly known as Shiver<\/a>, for theatrical release on Aug. 1, 2025, before announcing last year that the movie had shifted to July 3, 2026. Plot details have not been shared, but previous reports about the project have noted the involvement of sharks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThis movie heads to the streamer as part of its first-look deal with Sony for direct-to-streaming projects. Earlier this week, Sony continued its relationship with Netflix through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/sony-feature-films-to-stream-on-netflix-worldwide-1236475031\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">global Pay-1 licensing deal<\/a>\u00a0for Sony features to stream on Netflix worldwide after their theatrical and home media windows. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe companies have previously collaborated on Sony Pictures Animation\u2019s Mitchells vs the Machines, which has a sequel in the works. Among the recent projects to have been part of the studio\u2019s streaming deal with Netflix include 3000 Pictures\u2019 People We Meet on Vacation and Sony Pictures Animation\u2019s\u00a0K-Pop Demon Hunters, with the latter now the streamer\u2019s most-watched film ever.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWirkola is known for helming such films as\u00a0Dead Snow,\u00a0Hansel &amp; Gretel: Witch Hunters and\u00a0What Happened to Monday.
