Its tournament will be one of seven stops on Project B&#8217;s global circuit season format that begins in November and runs through April. Each city will host a 10-day event that crowns a local champion and feeds into a seasonlong championship race.<\/p>\n<p>There will be men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s tournament games in Tokyo being played at the Toyota Arena, with play going from March 26 to April 4.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re honored to bring Project B to Tokyo alongside our partners in Japan,&#8221; said Keisuke Mitsui, head of Project B Japan. &#8220;Tokyo sits at the intersection of global culture, innovation, and basketball, with a fan base that truly understands and loves the game. The league has already announced 10 women&#8217;s players headlined by <a data-player-guid=\"759b52cb-27bf-059a-9407-ea76a87edb14\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/wnba\/player\/_\/id\/1068\/nneka-ogwumike\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nneka Ogwumike<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"908608e9-31d4-62f2-dfe2-9fee9024e7e2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/wnba\/player\/_\/id\/2529140\/alyssa-thomas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alyssa Thomas<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"d5154a93-4a46-71af-8b55-f69328b84b54\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/wnba\/player\/_\/id\/2999101\/jonquel-jones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jonquel Jones<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"6268520f-7d7f-f5f6-4c16-59e7ffcd3dd0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/wnba\/player\/_\/id\/2987869\/jewell-loyd\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jewell Loyd<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"65441aab-bd32-abef-f1f9-6a95b381c955\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/wnba\/player\/_\/id\/3142191\/kelsey-mitchell\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kelsey Mitchell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese star Mai Yamamoto will also compete in the league which was announced Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is a true honor to be part of Project B, and I am deeply grateful for this opportunity,&#8221; Yamamoto said. &#8220;I want to use this global stage to show the world &#8216;Japanese Dynamism&#8217; &#8212; our unique speed and passion. Carrying the Pride of Japan in my heart, I am excited to welcome the global elite to my home country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s players will be announced later this year.<\/p>\n<p>According to the organization, women&#8217;s players will receive larger salaries than those currently offered by the WNBA. They are also expected to be higher than those at Unrivaled &#8212; the 3-on-3 league that started last year and features many top WNBA players.<\/p>\n<p>While the financial specifics haven&#8217;t been disclosed, the potential of more lucrative compensation comes at an important moment for women&#8217;s professional basketball.
