Stephen Thompson feels like he can continue fighting late into his 40\u2019s, but understands Ultimate Fighting Championship may not be in the market to re-sign an aging over-the-hill contender.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s why \u201cWonderboy\u201d is calling for a retirement fight at UFC\u2019s upcoming White House card<\/a>.<\/p>\n As you probably know by now, countless UFC fighters have already lobbied to compete at the White House event for President Donald Trump\u2019s birthday bash. There are only so many spots that can be filled. While the official lineup isn\u2019t expected to be worked on until end of this month it is Thompson\u2019s hope that he can someone get the nod.<\/p>\n If so, Thompson is ready to fight out his UFC contract and hang his gloves up for good. In fact, it would be his dream come true to retire at the White House and arguably the greatest MMA event of all time.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t have anything scheduled yet. There is a fight card \u2014 I have one fight left on my contract, and I want to see it through. Everybody\u2019s trying to get on it, obviously, the White House card,\u201d said Thompson during a recent interview with Middle Easy<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThat would be a prime time to really lay down the gloves,\u201d he continued. \u201cThat would be my dream, right there. I feel like I can keep going, man. But it\u2019s really what the UFC wants.
