Jan. 17 (UPI) — Haunting of Hill House writer-director Mike Flanagan’s new Exorcist starring Oscar winner Scarlett Johansson<\/a> is set for release March 12, 2027.<\/p>\n

Hamnet’s Jacobi Jupe is to co-star<\/a> in the horror picture from Blumhouse and Universal.\n<\/p>\n

The film is not being billed as a sequel or remake<\/a> of the terrifying 1973 classic, which featured Ellen Burstyn<\/a> and Linda Blair<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Instead, it will take place in the same universe as the screen adaptation of William Peter Blatty’s best-seller.<\/p>\n

No other plot details or casting have been announced yet.<\/p>\n

Flanagan’s credits include Doctor Sleep, The Life of Chuck, The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass and The Midnight Club.<\/p>\n
