Zheng, ranked No. 174 and playing in the first ATP main-draw match of his life, displayed the poise of a veteran to withstand a furious comeback from the former quarterfinalist.<\/p>\n<p>After squandering a two-set lead, the young American broke Korda early in the fifth and served out the biggest win of his career after nearly four hours on court. The victory is particularly remarkable as Zheng is currently a senior at Columbia University, balancing a five-course spring semester in New York with his breakout run in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cColumbia Lion\u201d has long been touted as the next great college-to-pro success story. Before arriving in Australia, his resume was already historic: he is a two-time back-to-back NCAA Singles Champion (2024, 2025) \u2013\u00a0the first to achieve the feat since Steve Johnson in 2012.
