Thanks to the latest app update, the open-source YouTube alternative now works on your car\u2019s infotainment screen.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/newpipe.net\/blog\/pinned\/announcement\/newpipe-0.28.0-released\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">blog post<\/a>, the NewPipe team says you can now browse your watch history, load playlists, or search for new content within Android Auto. These workarounds usually involve third-party tools like CarStream or screen mirroring their phone, but they\u2019re usually a bit clunky and prone to breaking. This is an early example of video playback arriving through Android Auto\u2019s official app support, with no trickery needed.<\/p>\n<p>This update follows Google\u2019s broader plan to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/android-auto-weather-browser-app-support-3559888\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">allow more app categories<\/a> on Android Auto.
