Whether covered in weathered asphalt or caked in dirt, the colossus is iconic in the world of motorsports. But can that reputation translate to the diamond?<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Early indications from the \u00a0MLB Speedway Classic suggest it can. Around 85,000 have already purchased tickets for the Braves and Reds&#8217; matchup on Saturday night, more than any other game in MLB history.<\/p>\n<p>What better way to celebrate the occasion \u2014 and its host site \u2014 than adding a few easter eggs to Atlanta and Cincinnati&#8217;s glint uniforms. The uniforms are a nod to the numbers that scrawl atop NASCAR chariots during races.<\/p>\n<p>Players will also be adorned with caps, helmets, and bats inspired by NASCAR insignia of old. Atlanta&#8217;s caps include red flames atop the brim.<\/p>\n<p>Cincinnati, meanwhile, features the checkerboard pattern that sprawls across the black-white checkered flag.<\/p>\n<p>Batters&#8217; headgear also features that checkered flag decal and slanted jersey numbers. It also comes with &#8220;speed-inspired woodworks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>A commemorative patch sits atop each team&#8217;s right sleeve.
