Ellen DeGeneres<\/a> has broken her silence on the death of Renee Good. Good, a 37\u2011year\u2011old Minneapolis woman, was fatally shot by an ICE agent during a confrontation with federal immigration officers on January<\/a> 7, according to ABC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m so sad, and so angry, and so worried,” DeGeneres captioned an Instagram post<\/a> on Saturday, January 17. DeGeneres also copy and pasted Becca Good’s full statement following the death of her wife.<\/p>\n

Dozens of fans took to the comments section of the post, with some agreeing with DeGeneres’ take.<\/p>\n

“People are so brainwashed in the US, they can’t see anything wrong with this. The rest of the world is shocked that you, as a group of people, voted for this and have no issue with it,” one comment read<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Her tragic death is a reminder that sometimes we should put politics aside and judge the situation as HUMANS! right or left, killing her was WRONG,” someone else added<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, many on the opposing side called DeGeneres out over her post, and some criticized her for not posting about the deaths of others, like Charlie Kirk<\/a>, who was shot and killed while speaking on a campus in Utah.<\/p>\n

“Stay in your lane Ellen\u2026no one deserves to die but maybe if she wasn\u2019t out antagonizing law enforcement that had NOTHING to do with her she would be here. Sad to think the last thing she heard was Drive Baby Drive as her partner filmed OUTSIDE of car,” one person wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Ellen I hope u continue stay in the UK. RIP Charlie Kirk!!!!!” another comment read<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“You are on the wrong side, again. Hope you are enjoying the UK,” someone else added<\/a>.<\/p>\n

DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi<\/a>, moved to the UK in late 2024.<\/p>\n

“We got here the day before the election,” DeGeneres told broadcaster Richard Bacon at the time (via Hello! magazine<\/a>). “We woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis<\/a>, and I was like, ‘He got in.’ And we\u2019re like, ‘We\u2019re staying here.'”<\/p>\n

There has been some chatter that DeGeneres and de Rossi are planning to return<\/a> to the U.S. in 2026, but the former talk show host hasn’t confirmed nor denied those rumors.<\/p>\n
