Piers Morgan<\/a> is sharing an update from the hospital as he recovers from a recent injury.<\/p>\n

The British talk show host, 60, took to social media on Sunday, Jan. 18, to post a selfie showing himself lying in a hospital bed<\/a>. Morgan told his followers that he “tripped on small step” in a hotel restaurant in London and wound up fracturing his femur “so badly I needed new hip.”<\/p>\n

The former “America’s Got Talent” judge shared that he is recovering in the hospital and will need to use crutches for six weeks. He added that he won’t be able to do any long-haul travel for 12 weeks.<\/p>\n

“New Year off to a cracking start!” Morgan wrote, also sarcastically quipping, “I blame Donald Trump<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

On Instagram, Morgan also shared a photo of an X-ray that showed his fracture.<\/p>\n

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons<\/a>, femoral shaft fractures usually require surgery and take between three and six months to completely heal.<\/p>\n

“A broken femur is a serious injury that requires immediate medical care,” the Cleveland Clinic explains<\/a>. “Broken femurs are treated with surgery and physical therapy. It can take months for your broken femur to heal. You can break your femur by being in a car crash, falling or being shot. Elderly people who are prone to injuries from falls can break their femurs.”<\/p>\n

The Mayo Clinic also notes that<\/a> a hip replacement is a surgery to remove and replace damaged sections of the hip joint, and replacement parts “are usually made of metal, ceramic and hard plastic.”<\/p>\n
