Conor McGregor just declared his current UFC contract void, and he did it on Roblox.<\/p>\n
The Irish sports star has been spending some time on Roblox with his son, and some of those gaming sessions have turned into impromptu interviews about the future of his fighting career. During his latest chat with gaming influencer Caylus, \u201cThe Notorious\u201d shared where things stood, and the news he shared could be one of the most pivotal statements he\u2019ll make in the history of his career.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m warming up now for the White House fight,\u201d McGregor said. \u201cI\u2019m gonna get it, for sure. We\u2019re gonna negotiations with the Ultimate Fighting Championship in February, and I\u2019m very interested to go. They actually got a new deal with Paramount, it\u2019s worth $7.7 million so the company has 4x\u2019d its profit. And my contract essentially is void right now because there\u2019s no more pay-per-view. Whereas my contract was based on pay-per-view sales. I\u2019m the highest generating pay-per-view fighter of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe pay-per-view system is done,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m due a new contract. So we go into negotiations in February, and I\u2019m very interested to see how it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n
McGregor had two fights left on what was his current UFC contract — two fights which have been very hard for him to get booked. While relations between Conor and the UFC remain solid in the public eye, it\u2019s clear that something is going on behind the scenes.<\/a> The UFC never rebooked him after he broke his toe<\/a> for UFC 303. They shut down<\/a> his attempt to box Logan Paul in India for an insane amount of money.<\/a> And lately he\u2019s been talking about fighting elsewhere<\/a> once his contract is up.<\/p>\n Well \u2026 now that contract may be void because the fundamentals of how he makes most of his money through the UFC are different. The UFC is actually lucky that McGregor is so honed in on fighting on the White House card. A slick lawyer could bust him out of his existing deal, and still could if negotiations don\u2019t pan out in February.<\/p>\n
