Have you heard the good word of\u00a028 Years Later: The Bone Temple<\/a>? It sounds like a good, but not great amount of followers\u2014sorry, \u201cJimmies\u201d\u2014did.<\/p>\n

Per Variety<\/a>, the zombie flick opened to $31.1 million worldwide. While domestic audiences only saw it to the tune of a projected $15 million, it fared better overseas, where it\u2019s made $16.2 million across 61 international territories. That domestic take is behind the $20-22 million it was targeted to earn over the holiday, but it could have legs in the weeks ahead. What could certainly help it is word of mouth, funnily: it\u2019s gotten a pretty positive reception from critics and audiences, so it\u2019s possible people revisit the Bone Temple over the next several weeks.<\/p>\n

Sony\u2019s already committed to a third\u00a0<\/a>28 Years Later<\/a>,\u00a0which\u2019ll see the return of original\u00a028 Days Later\u00a0star Cillian Murphy<\/a>. It could be that coming out so soon after the first\u00a0Years\u00a0hurt this one, or it might also just be competition like\u00a0Primate<\/a>, No Other Choice, and\u00a0Avatar: Fire and Ash. The latter\u2019s expected to earn another $17.2 million domestic over the four-day weekend, bringing its total to $363.5 million domestic and $1.31 billion globally. For its fifth weekend in a row,\u00a0Fire and Ash\u00a0is still a money-maker for Disney, joined by Zootopia 2 now cementing itself as Hollywood\u2019s highest-grossing animated movie ever<\/a>.<\/p>\n
