{"id":419752,"date":"2026-01-19T18:32:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-19T18:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/419752\/"},"modified":"2026-01-19T18:32:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T18:32:08","slug":"explosion-at-offices-of-gta-6-developer-rockstar-north","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/419752\/","title":{"rendered":"Explosion at offices of GTA 6 developer Rockstar North"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">An explosion has rocked a video game developer HQ in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/edinburgh\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Edinburgh;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Edinburgh<\/a>, Scotland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">At around 5am on Monday, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to Rockstar North\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The company makes popular video games, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/grand-theft-auto\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Grand Theft Auto;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Grand Theft Auto<\/a> (GTA) and Red Dead Redemption.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Seven fire trucks and scores of firefighters rushed to the explosion in Holyrood Road and they cordoned off the building.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"The Rockstar North office in Edinburgh (Google)\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"426\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/0d9b2cd6d941944a07cdb37ce04198f9.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Rockstar North office in Edinburgh (Google)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They worked to secure \u201cstructural damage\u201d to the building and left three hours later once the scene was safe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">No one was injured and it\u2019s not clear what caused the explosion. But reports have suggested it was caused by an explosion in the boiler room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A spokesperson for the service told the Herald: \u201cWe were alerted at 5.02am on Monday, 19 January to attend an incident on Holyrood Road, Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cOperations Control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene, where firefighters worked to secure structural damage at a commercial building.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"GTA 6 is planned to be released in November later this year (Rockstar Games)\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"600\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/f07c7b6f1865367a0409a30f82034c6c.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>GTA 6 is planned to be released in November later this year (Rockstar Games)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThere were no reported casualties and crews left the scene at 9.21am.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The release of <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.news.yahoo.com\/grand-theft-auto-6-delayed-111523154.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:GTA 6 has been delayed twice since it was announced;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GTA 6 has been delayed twice since it was announced<\/a>.
