{"id":420006,"date":"2026-01-19T21:07:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-19T21:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/420006\/"},"modified":"2026-01-19T21:07:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T21:07:07","slug":"trainer-robert-garcia-points-out-one-concern-ahead-of-mario-barrios-vs-ryan-garcia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/420006\/","title":{"rendered":"Trainer Robert Garcia points out one concern ahead of Mario Barrios vs Ryan Garcia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>World-renowned boxing trainer Robert Garcia has revealed his concerns ahead of <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/ryan-garcia\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Garcia<\/a>\u2019s upcoming world title challenge against <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/mario-barrios\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mario Barrios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Garcia has become one of boxing\u2019s biggest names over the last few years, but the Californian is still yet to win a world title and came up short in his first challenge for world honours last May, when <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/rolando-romero-drops-and-shocks-ryan-garcia-in-new-york\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">he was outpointed by Rolando Romero<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This week, it was revealed that \u2018King Ry\u2019 will bid for the welterweight throne again when he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/boxing\/articles\/c4g42gpqezjo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">faces WBC world champion Mario Barrios at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas<\/a>, to possibly tee up a title unification and grudge match rematch against Devin Haney for later in the year.<\/p>\n<p>However, following the announcement, Robert Garcia told Ring Magazine of his concerns regarding the 27-year-old\u2019s trainer situation, after it was revealed that Ryan Garcia was training under his father for the Barrios fight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a good match-up for Ryan. I think that Ryan has the skills, the power and the speed to go and become champion but there\u2019s a few things that I see that might not be in his favour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that Ryan has already gone through three top trainers, that would\u2019ve done a great job, [is concerning]: Eddy Reynoso, Joe Goossen and Derrick James.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is not training with neither of them, he is training with his dad, I\u2019m not saying that [his dad is not a good trainer], he brought him through the amateurs but before he came back to him, he went through three different trainers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you mean that all three are not good enough [to train you]? All three are some of the best trainers in the world.
