{"id":420334,"date":"2026-01-20T00:38:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T00:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/420334\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T00:38:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T00:38:09","slug":"latest-prospect-rankings-have-diamondbacks-in-exceptional-position","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/420334\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest Prospect Rankings Have Diamondbacks In Exceptional Position"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"inline-text-0\" class=\"mt-[18px] md:mt-0 mb-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"65\">While the Arizona Diamondbacks may not be lighting up many of MLB&#8217;s wholesale prospect rankings, there&#8217;s certainly one position where Arizona stands out in a major way.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-1\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"68\">A recent article from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/top-10-second-base-prospects-for-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MLB&#8217;s Jim Callis<\/a> ranked the top 10 second base prospects in baseball. Not only were the D-backs the only team to feature more than one player in this group, Arizona had three representatives: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.milb.com\/app-firstpitch\/player\/tommy-troy-694371\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tommy Troy<\/a> (No. 4), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.milb.com\/player\/demetrio-crisantes-702679\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Demetrio Crisantes<\/a> (No. 6) and JD Dix (No. 8).<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6b\">Of the three, Troy figures to be the closest to the majors, after a successful promotion to Triple-A Reno in 2025. He was drafted 12th overall by Arizona in 2023 as a shortstop, but has shifted to second base (with some outfield reps, as well). <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6x\">His 2024 season was marred by injury, but he still made the jump from High-A to Double-A between 2024 and 2025. He started out in Amarillo to open 2025, but his .843 OPS and 12 homers earned him a quick mid-season promotion to Reno, where he slashed .295\/.381\/.429 in 38 games.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"70\">Troy still has some development in front of him, but at 24 years old, his hit tool appears to be coming along nicely. He&#8217;s ranked No. 5 in the D-backs&#8217; system, and seems primed for his first cup of coffee in the majors this coming season.<\/p>\n<p>2B Demetrio Crisantes<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"76\">Crisantes was quite high on many prospect lists after an excellent 2023, but a shoulder injury claimed most of 2024 before he had time to put forward a full season in High-A. Arizona&#8217;s No. 4 overall prospect is now healthy, and could be primed for a breakout.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"79\">At just 21 years old, there&#8217;s plenty of road left for him to reach the majors, but it&#8217;s hard to argue with a .323 career minor league average, even if he has yet to climb above High-A. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-12\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7c\">Related Content: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/mlb\/diamondbacks\/onsi\/arizona-diamondbacks-news\/diamondbacks-prospect-teases-2026-return-crisantes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Diamondbacks&#8217; Top-5 Prospect Teases 2026 Return<\/a><\/p>\n<p>2B JD Dix <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-14\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7i\">Dix was drafted out of high school at 35 overall in the 2024 Draft \u2014 also a natural shortstop. He&#8217;s a switch-hitter with high potential, hitting .261 (but with a .391 on-base percentage) for Class-A Visalia in 2024 over 50 games. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-15\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7l\">Dix is just 20 years old, so he&#8217;s quite a ways away from a major league appearance.
