{"id":420593,"date":"2026-01-20T03:26:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T03:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/420593\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T03:26:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T03:26:11","slug":"northern-lights-dazzle-across-south-west-skies-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/420593\/","title":{"rendered":"Northern Lights dazzle across South West skies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Parts of south-west England have been treated to a dazzling display of the Northern Lights. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The lights, or Aurora Borealis, are the result of solar eruptions sending particles towards Earth and the subsequent interaction of those particles with the Earth&#8217;s atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">A coronal mass ejection (CME), a large eruption of charged matter from the Sun, left the Sun on Sunday, the Met Office said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">It said the CME was likely &#8220;to bring aurora across Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England, and potentially further south&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Observers were treated to a full display of pink, red, and green hues as the lights shone over Devon and Cornwall at about 21:30 GMT.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Parts of south-west England have been treated to a dazzling display of the Northern Lights.
