Patrick Reed has said that the PGA Tour is the \u201cbest tour in the world\u201d and he would consider returning to his home circuit from LIV Golf if he were offered a similar deal to the one that recently tempted back Brooks Koepka.<\/p>\n

Koepka will return to the PGA Tour <\/a>this month after accepting a route back through a new returning member programme, having played on LIV since 2022. Reed, 35, would not be eligible to return under the terms of the present arrangement, but he would consider a switch if the details of the deal were amended.<\/p>\n

The returning member programme is currently only open to players who have been away from the PGA Tour for at least two years and have won a major or the Players Championship since 2022. While the most recent of Koepka\u2019s five major titles came at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill in 2023, Reed\u2019s only major was the Masters in 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not really a decision for me at the moment,\u201d the American told the Daily Telegraph. \u201cThat was for players 2022 and on. I definitely would have to think about it, if that number was down to 2018.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith are all eligible under the terms of the deal, but each has indicated that he will remain with LIV, the lucrative circuit backed by Saudi Arabia\u2019s Public Investment Fund.<\/p>\n

As part of the terms of his readmission to the PGA Tour, Koepka has agreed to make a donation to charity of $5million (about \u00a33.7million) and he will be ineligible for payments from the tour\u2019s FedEx Cup bonus scheme this year and from the tour\u2019s player equity programme for the next four years, which could amount to between $50-85million (about \u00a337.2-63.2million).<\/p>\n

Koepka stated that playing on the PGA Tour had been his goal since childhood and Reed, who is in the UAE to play in the Dubai Desert Classic this week, has now spoken of his admiration for the tour from which he resigned 3\u00bd years ago. <\/p>\n

\u201cI always enjoyed my time out there on the PGA Tour,\u201d he said. \u201cLet\u2019s be honest, it\u2019s the best tour in the world. Look at what they\u2019ve done in golf. I could see myself playing there at some point again. You just never know, everything\u2019s so fluid, everything\u2019s discombobulated in golf.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brian Rolapp, the chief executive of the PGA Tour, has stated that the returning programme is only open for the 2026 season. \u201cThis is a one-time, defined window and does not set a precedent for future situations,\u201d Rolapp said. \u201cOnce the door closes, there is no promise that this path will be available again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reed finished third at the Masters last year behind Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose, his best result in a major since he won the Green Jacket at Augusta seven years earlier.
