The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed National wide receiver\u00a0Kian Schaffer-Baker\u00a0to a two-year contract extension.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Schaffer-Baker\u00a0(6\u20194-195) continues his career in Green and White through the 2027\u00a0season after\u00a0being selected by the Roughriders\u00a0in the fourth round, 30th overall, of the 2020 CFL Draft.\u00a0The Mississauga native has played 57 career games as Roughrider, registering 220 receptions for 2,865 yards and 14 touchdowns. A tenacious receiver who fights for every yard for his team, Schaffer-Baker has an impressive 1,025 yards after catch and a\u00a013-yards-per-catch average.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
In five regular season games in 2025,\u00a0Schaffer-Baker\u00a0had\u00a015 receptions for 177 yards, an average of 11.8\u00a0yards\u00a0per\u00a0catch.\u00a0His\u00a0impact was accentuated in the Western Final, in which he caught a three-yard touchdown pass on a third-down gamble to complete an eight-play, 64-yard march\u00a0down field.\u00a0The longest play on that drive was also by Schaffer-Baker \u2013 a\u00a025-yard reception.\u00a0He added three receptions for 27 yards in the Grey Cup.<\/p>\n
After signing an extension in the spring of 2024, Schaffer-Baker posted 52\u00a0receptions\u00a0for 735 yards and four touchdowns, tying a career-high in average yards per catch at 14.1. He added another strong post-season performance to his career that season, setting a Roughrider record for post-season receptions (12), while his\u00a0162 yards was\u00a0the\u00a0second-best\u00a0total\u00a0in\u00a0Riders\u00a0playoff history.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since joining the team, the 27-year-old has endeared himself to Rider Nation, not only for his relentless passion on the field but as someone who always has time for a genuine interaction or to sign an autograph.
