It’s official: Bo Bichette<\/a>‘s time in Toronto has come to an end.<\/p>\n

The <\/a>New York Mets<\/a> announced Tuesday that they have signed the 27-year-old Bichette to a three-year deal with player options for 2027 and 2028. While the team didn’t disclose the financial details of the contract, it had been previously reported that Bichette will earn $126 million if he remains a Met for all three years of the contract.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to welcome Bo to our organization,\u201d\u00a0Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said in a statement. “Throughout\u00a0his career, Bo has distinguished himself as one of the best pure right-handed hitters in baseball.\u00a0 He\u00a0possesses\u00a0the rare combination of elite bat-to-ball and power that will\u00a0impact\u00a0our lineup.<\/p>\n

“Beyond his on-field skills, Bo has earned the reputation as one of the most intense competitors in our sport. We\u2019re\u00a0excited to add him to our team\u00a0and\u00a0believe\u00a0he fits our organization very well.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

New York also announced that it will hold Bichette’s introductory press conference on Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET \/ 10 a.m. PT.<\/p>\n

After beginning his career as a shortstop, Bichette is expected to shift to third base with the Mets, allowing Francisco Lindor and Marcus Semien to form New York’s double-play combination.<\/p>\n

Bichette joins the Mets after spending the first seven years of his career with the Blue Jays.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old enjoyed an excellent 2025, hitting .311 with 18 homers, 94 RBIs and a .357 OBP before he sprained his left knee on Sept. 6 in a game against the New York Yankees.<\/p>\n

He returned in time for the World Series, hitting .348 and launching a three-run home run early in Game 7 that, for a while, seemed destined for franchise lore.<\/p>\n

Bichette debuted with the Blue Jays in 2019 after being selected in the second round, 66th overall, in the 2016 draft.
