{"id":424215,"date":"2026-01-21T19:18:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T19:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/424215\/"},"modified":"2026-01-21T19:18:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T19:18:07","slug":"gfl-moves-corporate-headquarters-from-vaughan-to-miami-about-a-dozen-jobs-affected-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/424215\/","title":{"rendered":"GFL moves corporate headquarters from Vaughan to Miami, about &#8216;a dozen&#8217; jobs affected: CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Green For Life Environmental (GFL), the ubiquitous waste management company that holds numerous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/legdocs\/mmis\/2025\/gg\/bgrd\/backgroundfile-253192.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">local garbage contracts<\/a>, announced on Wednesday that it is moving its corporate headquarters from Vaughan to Miami, resulting in about \u201ca dozen\u201d job losses, its CEO told CityNews.<\/p>\n<p>In a release the company said the relocation \u201cis intended to broaden GFL\u2019s shareholder base via eligibility for inclusion in major U.S. equity indices\u201d while stressing that it will continue to \u201cgrow its existing Canadian footprint and maintain its Canadian jurisdiction of incorporation and TSX listing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patick Dovigi, founder and CEO of GFL, said the company\u2019s jurisdiction of incorporation \u2014 essentially its legal home \u2014 will remain Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about job losses, Dovigi told CityNews \u201cabout a dozen\u201d employees would be affected.<\/p>\n<p>Dovigi stressed that the move was intended to be a boon to investors in the publicly traded company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsistent with our desire to access a wider global investor base across both passive and active strategies, the relocation of our executive headquarters broadens our eligibility for participation in U.S. equity indices while preserving our eligibility for inclusion in Canadian equity indices,\u201d he wrote in a release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect this approach to gaining broader index inclusion will increase GFL\u2019s visibility with investors and ultimately drive a wider shareholder base.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GFL already has a strong foothold south of the border, with Dovigi saying the U.S. currently represents over two thirds of its revenue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe relocation aligns with our expanding presence in this attractive market and is expected to improve our ability to attract highly skilled talent from the U.S. labor pool.
