Guyo\u0111 aren\u2019t interested in pleasure boatin\u2019 or day-sailin\u2019; their blackened seas conceal dissonance sharp as barnacles and an undertow of doom that will carry unsuspecting landlubbers to a watery grave. Whether channeling a captain\u2019s bark with a mid-song vocal freakout (\u201cVortex of Infinite Despair\u201d) or drowning a guitar lead in phaser effects, Death Throes\u2026 manages to conjure a marine setting without resorting to peg legs and shoulder parrots. (I\u2019m reminded of an aquatic Ischemic.) The 4 \u201cSignal\u201d tracks (as yet unavailable) are something of a \u201cred sky in morning,\u201d as I assume they\u2019re interludes, but given the skill of the crew, my hopes for sailor\u2019s delight on Friday remain afloat. -Roldy<\/p>\n
