Tsuut\u2019ina Nation police have charged a 40-year-old woman with second-degree murder following an investigation into a suspicious death earlier this month.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Jan. 5, officers were called to reports of an unresponsive woman found inside a house on Wintergreen Road, near the golf course on the west side of the First Nation, which is located just west of Calgary.<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old was declared dead at the scene and her death was considered suspicious.<\/p>\n
Police have not released the name of the victim or the cause of her death, but confirm she is a member of the Tsuut\u2019ina Nation.<\/p>\n
On Monday, 40-year-old Amanda Audrey Nicole Crane was arrested in Calgary and charged with second-degree murder.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can confirm that both the accused and the victim knew each other. This was not a random attack,\u201d said Martin Sciavetta, executive director of the Tsuut\u2019ina police.<\/p>\n

Crane, who is not a member of the Tsuut\u2019ina Nation is scheduled to appear in court in Cochrane, Alta., on Jan. 27.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe community is mourning the loss of one of their members,\u201d said Sciavetta. \u201cThis is a very safe community. The last homicide on the nation actually was in 2019. So it\u2019s a tremendous amount of feeling of loss and despair and as a police service, we\u2019re glad that we\u2019re able to provide some accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n
