Green Day<\/a> took a jab at Immigration and Customs Enforcement<\/a> and U.S. Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller<\/a> during a recent show in California while speaking up for the people of Minnesota<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While performing their iconic 2004 chart-topper American Idiot in the Kia Forum on Saturday, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong<\/a> continued his tradition of trading the line \u201cI\u2019m not a part of a redneck agenda\u201d to \u201cI\u2019m not a part of the MAGA agenda,\u201d making reference to U.S. President Donald Trump<\/a> and his \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d slogan.<\/p>\n

The band then performed\u00a0Holiday\u00a0and\u00a0Know Your Enemy as Armstrong told the crowd: \u201cThis song is anti-fascism. This song is anti-war. We stand up for our brothers and sisters in Minnesota\u2026. Ladies and gentlemen, Stephen Miller now has the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Armstrong was referring to the ongoing anti-ICE protests in Minneapolis following the killing of Renee Nicole Good<\/a>\u00a0by an ICE agent on Jan. 7. The Trump administration\u00a0has repeatedly defended the ICE agent<\/a>\u00a0who shot Good, a mother of three, saying he acted in self-defence.<\/p>\n

Armstrong closed the show with a message to their fans<\/a> in the crowd, saying, \u201cPlease look out for your neighbours. Make sure you take care of each other. Make sure you love one another. Protect each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCh\u2014a la migra,\u201d Armstrong added, which loosely translates to \u201cf\u2013k the immigration cops.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lyric change comes after the National Football League<\/a> announced it\u2019s marking the 60th anniversary of the Super Bowl<\/a> with Green Day as the hometown opening act.<\/p>\n

Green Day will kick off the big game with an opening ceremony on Feb. 8 at Levi\u2019s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., the league announced Sunday. The performance will celebrate six decades of the championship\u2019s history, with the band helping usher generations of Super Bowl MVPs onto the field.<\/p>\n

The trio of Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tr\u00e9 Cool, who formed in the East Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area, are expected to perform a selection of their best-known anthems as part of the tribute.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard!\u201d Armstrong said. \u201cWe are honoured to welcome the MVPs who\u2019ve shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let\u2019s have fun! Let\u2019s get loud!\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to Green Day, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny will lead the halftime festivities<\/a>, while Charlie Puth will perform the national anthem. Brandi Carlile will sing America the Beautiful\u00a0and Coco Jones will perform Lift Every Voice and Sing.<\/p>\n

Green Day\u2019s latest lyric change is just the most recent example of the band revising its song to criticize supporters of the Trump administration.<\/p>\n

Last January, the band took aim at Elon Musk<\/a> during their debut performance in Musk\u2019s home country<\/a> of South Africa the night before Trump\u2019s\u00a0inauguration.<\/p>\n

While performing American Idiot, Armstrong changed up the lyric, \u201cI\u2019m not a part of the redneck agenda\u201d to \u201cI\u2019m not a part of the Elon agenda,\u201d taking aim at the billionaire, who formed close ties with Trump.<\/p>\n
