Forget the frigid temperatures and snow on the ground, the Buffalo Pro Soccer team is thinking about spring 2027 when the city’s fledgling USL Championship League team will begin play.

“Everything is on pace to meet that deadline,” says Kate Measer, Buffalo Pro Soccer spokesperson.

The team is being overseen and championed by former USL Championship executive and Buffalo native Peter Marlette Jr.

Marlette has been working on the Buffalo Pro Soccer team for the past three years and he continues to move forward with this plans.

All signs point to the team playing in a 7,000-seat new stadium, with the stadium definitely being in the City of Buffalo.

Some rumors have said either Father Conway Park along Louisiana Street in the Old First Ward or the former Buffalo News parking lot along Scott Street being considered.

Measer counters those are just rumors and no site has been picked or is considered a front runner. A final decision will likely come later this year.

“It will be a stadium that everyone is proud of,” Measer said.

Last May, Buffalo Pro Soccer said the stadium was targeted for the former Medialle University sports complex on Elk Street but concerns raised by industrial neighbor PVC Chemicals forced the soccer team to find a new location.

Support and momentum for Buffalo Pro Soccer continues to grow, especially against the backdrop of the FIFA World Cup championships coming the U.S. and Canada this summer including games in Toronto.

Measer said Buffalo Pro Soccer has secured 2,200 season ticket subscribers.

“People are excited,” Measer said.

A typical USL season runs from spring through the fall months. The league itself is a parallel to Triple A baseball or the American Hockey League.

“Everything is on track for ’27,” Measer said.
