The Cure<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Boys Don\u2019t Cry\u2019 has hit one billion streams on Spotify and the band have announced a limited-edition EP to celebrate.<\/p>\n

The song was first released as a single in 1979\u00a0and later served as the title track of the band\u2019s debut album in the US. It has\u00a0gone on to\u00a0become one of their signature\u00a0songs,\u00a0and now it has become the first track from their back catalogue to\u00a0cross\u00a0the one billion\u00a0mark\u00a0on Spotify.<\/p>\n

On\u00a0April 21, The Cure will release a limited-edition EP that\u00a0includes the version of \u2018Boys Don\u2019t Cry\u2019 that Robert Smith<\/a> re-recorded in 1986 for the \u2018Staring\u00a0At\u00a0The\u00a0Sea \u2013 The Singles\u2019 compilation album, but which has never been released digitally.<\/p>\n

The EP will be available on 12\u201d vinyl, 7\u201d vinyl, CD and on digital formats, and it will also include remasters of the\u00a0single\u2019s\u00a0B-sides, \u2018Plastic Passion\u2019, \u2018Pillbox Tales\u2019 and \u2018Do The Hansa\u2019, as well as the extended 12\u201d mix of \u2018Boys Don\u2019t Cry\u2019. The Cure released their acclaimed comeback album \u2018Songs Of A Lost World<\/a>\u2019 in 2024, and its accompanying remix album \u2018Mixes Of A Lost World<\/a>\u2019 last year.\u00a0Their last show was the intimate\u00a0album release party show at London\u2019s Troxy<\/a>, which has since been\u00a0released as a concert film,\u00a0The Show Of A Lost World<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

They\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0performed live together since the\u00a0Troxy\u00a0gig, but\u00a0they have announced their live return for 2026 with a series of UK and European dates. These include\u00a0outdoor headline shows in Manchester, Cardiff, Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh and Berlin<\/a>.\u00a0Find any remaining tickets here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ll\u00a0also top the bill at\u00a0numerous\u00a0summer festivals, including\u00a0Isle Of Wight Festival<\/a>, Primavera Sound Barcelona<\/a>,\u00a0Rock Werchter<\/a>,\u00a0Open\u2019er<\/a>,\u00a0\u00d8ya<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Rock En Seine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As for\u00a0new music,\u00a0they have confirmed that they have recorded 13 songs for a new album<\/a>, a record that\u00a0Smith has been hinting at for well over a year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Around the time of the release of \u2018Songs\u00a0Of\u00a0A\u00a0Lost World\u2019,\u00a0the frontman said they had another LP that was \u201cvirtually finished\u201d, as well as a third new record in the works<\/a>. He also\u00a0indicated\u00a0that he would be reluctant to head back on the road until at least one of those albums had been completed, suggesting that a release could be imminent.<\/p>\n

Last month,\u00a0Smith also revealed the line-up for his curated run of Teenage Cancer Trust gigs in March<\/a>,\u00a0featuring the likes of\u00a0Garbage<\/a>,\u00a0Wolf Alice<\/a>,\u00a0Manic Street Preachers<\/a>, Chvrches <\/a>and\u00a0My Bloody Valentine<\/a>.<\/p>\n
