The Italian fashion designer was spotted in Rome, paying her respects to her late peer. Versace chose to honor Valentino is screaming color, wearing a bright red suit. <\/p>\n
She added a pair of platform heels in the same rich color, shielding her eyes with oversized black sunglasses.<\/p>\n
Versace joined arms with former Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, who was dressed in all black and sneakers.<\/p>\n

The monochromatic look is, of course, a nod to Valentino\u2019s signature color, which was even sanctioned by Pantone as \u201cValentino red.\u201d He became famous for the hue, which he would repeat many times, after debuting a poppy-colored dress in his very first show in 1959.<\/p>\n
As the story goes, Garavani was initially inspired by the costumes of George Bizet\u2019s opera, \u201cCarmen\u201d during his childhood as well as the prominence of the tone throughout the audience.<\/p>\n
Instantly captivated, he used the color frequently throughout his collections and it quickly became synonymous with the brand.<\/p>\n
