That self-titled affair is closed out by a bonus cover of Metallica\u2018s \u201cRide The Lightning\u201d \u2014 a song Megadeth founder Dave Mustaine had a hand in writing before his 1983 ousting from Metallica. Mustaine has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theprp.com\/2025\/10\/30\/news\/megadeths-dave-mustaine-speaks-on-megadeths-upcoming-cover-of-metallicas-ride-the-lightning\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">spoken at length about covering that track<\/a> already, describing it as a way of \u2018paying his respects\u2019 to his former bandmates in Metallica\u2018s vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich.<\/p>\n<p>With Mustaine preparing to eventually hang it up with Megadeth following the conclusion of a 3 to 5 year farewell tour on the back of this new record, this nod to his past has been self-described as being as his way of \u2018closing the circle\u2019 as well.<\/p>\n<p>As it currently stands, it would appear that Mustaine, Hetfield and Ulrich once again remain estranged, after a royalty dispute over Metallica\u2018s \u201cNo Life \u2018Til Leather\u201d demo once again spiked their relationship. Despite that, Mustaine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theprp.com\/2026\/01\/20\/news\/despite-their-fractured-friendship-dave-mustaine-feels-that-a-metallica-megadeth-tour-would-make-everything-right\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">remains hopeful of once again patching things up<\/a>.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"After months of anticipation, Megadeth\u2018s final studio album has arrived.
