{"id":428208,"date":"2026-01-23T14:43:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T14:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/428208\/"},"modified":"2026-01-23T14:43:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T14:43:08","slug":"outlook-email-outage-reported-by-tens-of-thousands-as-microsoft-acknowledges-issues-for-american-users","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/428208\/","title":{"rendered":"Outlook Email Outage Reported by Tens of Thousands as Microsoft Acknowledges Issues for American Users"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tens of thousands of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft 365 users were reporting outages on Thursday, Jan. 22, as the company said it was working to fix an issue with the &#8220;service infrastructure in North America.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The issues <a href=\"https:\/\/downdetector.com\/status\/outlook\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:began in the afternoon;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">began in the afternoon<\/a> on the East Coast, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/downdetector.com\/status\/microsoft-365\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Downdetector;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Downdetector<\/a>, a website that tracks user-reported problems with tech services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As a result, Microsoft said, &#8220;Users may be seeing degraded service functionality or be unable to access multiple Microsoft 365 services.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">And people using Outlook for email &#8220;may be receiving a &#8216;451 4.3.2 temporary server issue&#8217; error message when attempting to send or receive [messages],&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Microsoft blamed a &#8220;portion of dependent service infrastructure in the North America region&#8221; that wasn&#8217;t &#8220;processing traffic as expected.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">And while the company said <a href=\"https:\/\/status.cloud.microsoft\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:in an update later on Thursday;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">in an update later on Thursday<\/a> that they had &#8220;restored the affected infrastructure to a heathy state, further load balancing is required to mitigate persistent impact.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We&#8217;ve identified and are implementing additional actions to direct requests and traffic to additional healthy sections of infrastructure to achieve withstanding recovery,&#8221;
