In a full-circle moment, Megadeth<\/a> have unveiled a cover of Metallica<\/a>\u2019s \u201cRide the Lightning,\u201d a song frontman Dave Mustaine<\/a> co-wrote when he was a member of Metallica in the early \u201980s.<\/p>\n

The Megadeth version of \u201cRide the Lightning\u201d appears as a bonus track on Megadeth\u2019s self-titled final album<\/a>, which is out today, January 23rd.<\/p>\n

When announcing the track\u2019s inclusion<\/a> on the album, Mustaine stated in a press release, \u201cAs I come full circle on the career of a lifetime, the decision to include \u2018Ride the Lightning,\u2019 a song I co-wrote with James [Hetfield], Lars [Ulruch], and Cliff [Burton], was to pay my respects to where my career first started.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added via an Instagram post, \u201cWe sped it up just a little tiny bit, we played around with the solo\u2026 You might hear some differences with the tempo, and of course I sing different from James. \u2026 It was about completing the circle and about showing what James and I, as guitar players, did to change the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

As you\u2019ll hear below, Megadeth\u2019s version of \u201cRide the Lightning\u201d retains the song\u2019s classic riffage, but adds a little speed and features Mustaine\u2019s distinct vocals.<\/p>\n
